Blueberries Improve Vision
Blueberries can improve vision. Blueberries are full of nutrients that help to improve the function of cells in our bodies. According to dozens of internet sites that I looked at, a form of blueberries was used in World War Two by British pilots. The claim is that bilberry preserves were used by these pilots. Bilberries are the European cousin of blueberries.
Reportedly, British Air Force pilots regularly consumed bilberries because of the benefit it had on their night vision. They were able to complete their missions with greater accuracy because of the improvement in their sight. While I did find many, many sites that had this story, I didn't find an actual account or much research to support it. What I did find is that this story prompted European researchers to study the effects of blueberries on night vision. Numerous studies showed that the nutrients in blueberries improve nighttime visual acuity, promote quicker adjustment to darkness, and promote faster restoration of visual acuity after exposure to glare.
Good vision is extremely important. Eating blueberries is just one of many ways to protect your eyes.
