Vitamin B6 Is Essential for Good Health

Vitamin B6 is a water-soluble vitamin which assists in many crucial functions of the body. The three major forms of this vitamin are pyridoxine, pyridoxal, and pyridoxamine.

This vitamin has had many studies done and has been researched since the 1930's. It has been found to have crucial benefits for the body.

Some of the functions of B6 are:

-Protein Metabolism

-Red Blood Cell Metabolism

-Changing the Amino Acid Tryptophan in Niacin (Vitamin B3)

-Processing of carbohydrates in energy

-Support of nervous system activity

-Support hormonal balance and elimination of toxic substances through the liver

This is one nutrient that does many things for the body. There have been found to be at least 100 necessary chemical functions in the body that require B6.

It has been used to treat or prevent the following health issues:

Cardiovascular disease

Immune system function

Cognitive function

Kidney stones

PMS

Depression

Morning sickness

Carpal Tunnel syndrome

I think it is important to note that there has never been any problems caused by taking to much B6 in the food form, but that is not true for the supplement form.

Taking high doses for extended periods can cause neurological problems. Serious side effects have only been shown in huge doses though.
