Obesity is a growing concern all around the world. Americans have more than twice the incidence of obesity than in the past. This is a huge concern especially for children who are also rapidly becoming overweight or obese. Many, many health concerns are caused by this problem. Being overweight or obese increases the risk of many diseases and health conditions, including the following: hypertension, dyslipidemia (for example, high total cholesterol or high levels of triglycerides), type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, gallbladder disease, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea and respiratory problems, and some cancers: endometrial, breast, and colon. What I have found through this experience is that the best way to lose weight is to eat right and exercise. Unfortunately, there is no magic formula which will allow you to eat as much chocolate as you want while watching TV all day and still lose weight. So, how can blueberries help? They add much needed nutrition into our diets. Our diets today are prepared from foods that lack the necessary nutrients to ensure proper body function. Our brains keep asking for nourishment so we keep eating more and receiving less nutrition from our food. Eating 1 cup of blueberries every day, particularly wild blueberries, adds nourishment and nutrients that your body needs. For me, drinking blueberry juice every day has helped to reduce my appetite and my cravings. It has really helped me to control my weight. Another benefit of eating blueberries is that they are low in calories and low in carbohydrates. You can add them to your diet plan without taking much of your calorie or carbohydrate allowance away.
